According to Peter Bialobrzeski, “Heimat means having roots, not necessarily being rooted.” And because he is less concerned with places than with images, Heimat is not ‘a book about Germany as home,’ but rather captures ‘a personal piece of visual and cultural history.’ Bialobrzeski’s photographs appear as projection surfaces for modern man with his longing for nature – an homage to the soulscapes of Romanticism and at the same time a tribute to the works of more recent American color photographers.

A wise decision
We are very pleased that you want to become a member of the laif Cooperative. Each member subscribes to shares worth €1,000 (10 shares at €100 each). With this contribution, you invest in the further development of our cooperative — your account balance is refundable upon leaving, in accordance with the procedures set out in our statutes. The contribution can also be increased in €100 increments. Payment by instalments is possible.
As a new member, you will receive the exhibition magazine “40 Years of laif” in the mail in the coming days. Each year, around the pre-Christmas season, you will also receive an exciting annual gift, such as a signed print, a book, or similar, from laif photographers.
1. Declaration of accession
After reading the Articles of Association (german only), please complete the online application form to join the cooperative and indicate how many shares you wish to subscribe to.
